ActivHeal Alginate DressingsActivHeal Alginate Dressings are sodium calcium alginate dressings for the treatment of moderate to heavily exuding wounds that are granulating or have areas of slough, including pressure ulcers, leg ulcers, venous ulcers, arterial ulcers, diabetic ulcers, cavity wounds, lacerations, abrasions, graft wounds, donor sites and post operative surgical wounds.ActivHeal Alginate Dressings are designed to be used as a primary dressings and are manufactured by processing natural elements found in seaweed to produce a felt and rope dressing. The alginate fibres allow exudate to be absorbed into the dressing to form a cohesive gel, ensuring that the wound stays moist to provide an ideal wound healing environment. These fibres are naturally biodegradable so any small residual fibres that remain in the wound pose no risk to the patient. The alginate fibres are also a natural haemostat and can therefore be used to control minor bleeding.ActivHeal Alginate Dressings are highly versatile, allowing them to be used on a variety of wounds, including cavity wounds, in which the dressing can be packed into the cavity to promote healing fromwithin. The high wet strength of the dressings ensures that they remain integral upon removal.ActivHeal Alginate Dressings are available in four sizes: 5cm x 5cm (pack of 10), 10cm x 10cm (pack of 10), 10cm x 20cm (pack of 5) and 2cm x 30cm (pack of 5).
